Client: Council of Rotterdam
My role: Independent. There was quite some freedom in determining the direction of the project. So, as the weeks went by, I tweaked the research question (see above) until it aligned with the friction mentioned by the client.
Challenge: To design a tool to convert abstract inspiration from a training to a concrete action or goal.
Solution: Imagine you have just completed a training from which you have taken away a few key points that you think to yourself, "I really need to do something with this." How do you ensure that these points don't remain on paper or, worse yet, end up in the trash?
The first part is an audio guide that aids reflection and formulation. Picture a training on "work-life balance." Personal stories inspire you, leading to abstract inspiration. But the audio guide poses four questions that shape this abstract inspiration into an action point.
The second part is the hanger for activation. How does the action point come alive? Mnemoni engages your senses: visual, auditory, and olfactory. Through social design principles, I refined Mnemoni based on user feedback, incorporating seeing, hearing, and smelling. The portable hanger carries a unique scent, triggered weekly to remind you of the action point you want to practice. The design emerged from interviews and user desires, enhancing its effectiveness.
So, the abstract inspiration you gained during your training and internalized during the audio guide comes to life with the help of the hanger.
